Two day, 40 mile change-out race from Saipan to Tinian and back.
The first day is usually relatively easy going with the wind and swells in the back. The event coincides with the Tinian Fiesta and upon landing in Tinian paddlers get a taste of traditional island hospitality.
The second day is slightly tougher due fatigue of the previous day, the abundance of free food, little sleep, and the Channel being towards the end of the paddle.
The Channel in between Saipan and Tinian with its illusive and dreaded whirlpool is without a doubt the most challenging part of the Tinian Crossing. The second day crossing is about 2 and a half hours into the paddle and you are paddling into the wind and swells.
